Until now its been just get it back close and hold down for land. That or RTH so it does it itself.
Now i have to learn pilot skills to land the H.
Im pretty sure ive got this lol
Did you see the facebook idea in my last post?
Good video, I like the music and the transitions (fancy spinning, sliding etc… are not as smooth and can be distracting…), some editing advice, at 1:35 to 1:40, you mad some zoom, yawing changes, edit these out, it only takes a minute or two and if it is obvious that you did something, add one of those transitions…
At 3:40, you should have done an oval around that boat…
Oh, do not worry about pigeons, they are not attack birds, watch out for seagulls, they do not play games… I have never heard of any pigeons taking a drone done, when a pigeon and a drone connect, it was due to the pilot taking evasive action (for no reason…) and they ran into the pigeon…
I just did, I’m not much into Facebook, I have a presence, but my page is empty. I thoughts are “Why re-invent the wheel?”
There are already Aussie Facebook pages…
Spend your time flying your drone and making and editing Great Videos rather that maintaining a Facebook Page.
I joined a few DJI mini4 pro groups. Not just Aussie ones.
So much spam, and people look down at you because your new.
Not my scene. I want to be in a fun environment.
Im still all about the flying. i was thinking a safe environment for learning is also a good thing.
Ill finish making the page, and share my stuff. If the people come, they come.
If they dont, then i have a nice video storage are with a timeline.
Ok its of the hour where i need to get the drone in the air.
You can also consider making a YouTube Channel and if enough folks come, you might even be able to minoritize it (meaning the sponsors whose ads are shown with your videos will pay you some coin.,)
Just come with a catchy name, but not “LoudThunder Drone”, it’s already taken… L L . . .
Maybe something like “Outback Australian Drone”
i have got a utube page and i do put vids up there, but id never get the numbers to monetize.
Im just here for a good time lol.
I headed out to a oval outside the restricted zone today. took a couple 360 pics.
in that folder it has heaps of photos. in the utube vid i watched he just crabs 1 pic and puts it in to facebook and it gives 360. i have like 40 pics. im lost
more research today
I am all of 16,466 km (10,231 miles) away (Virginia, USA…) and I found your cranes, pretty cool, huh?
Is this what you mean by a “360 pic”, if so, they are called Photospheres and in mine, you can scroll all around, up down, left and right and even zoom in…
I posted them on GOogle Maps and in Google Earth…
that link should have given you all you needed for google lol
yes they are on the back of the city of adelaide warf.
The drones done its part in the 360 spheres. i just dont know how to go from having the folder full of pictures it took, to sphere on facebook. they say just take the picture and post it to facebook.
2 of my videos got flagged again today as spam. how can videos showing what im doing so that more advanced people can help, be considered spam? ive not missed forums
Went to the local wetlands. Can you find this aswell ? give you a hint… The background has some cranes in it lol
First take off 06.30
These are just the stills. took three 360 pix of which 2 worked and one came up with a http file.
A heap of training flights using the circle fixed object. Might throw a short vid of the good stuff.
Happy New year
Training mission St Kilda south Australia
I tell you where to look. lol not real hard after that.
I had to do a quick vid today for work of the almond orchid.
Special note to 2 minute in where i flew between the trees.
Drone was a long way from happy. it couldnt go left or right or up or down as there was branch’s.
The moment it seen a hole, boooom, straight up and over lol but i got it back in there.
cool fun to fly through the really tight stuff. Not a real technical flight but it is good training.
Extreme low fly over the dam as well. There is a little duckling to the right of the float. i think he made the water taste funny lol
You did not need to tell me the park’s name to find the Park.
When you showed the crane video you did not mention any more than “we went to the local port today. 2 super old cranes” in the other video. It was relatively easy to find the cranes. In the video, I could see that the cranes were at the end of a large boat slip and a bit further in land were a couple of large, round white storage tank.
I knew you were not on the Gulf as I could see across the water, so you had to be on the River. I also knew that you are in Southern Hemisphere, so all your shadows are on the South side of the structure (On this side of the Earth, our shadows are on the North Side…
Based on the lighting, it was probably afternoon and the slip runs kind of east and west…
This graphic is kind of the way I imagined it to look and I used Google Earth, Not Google Maps, as you can change the orientation and direction that the maps shows. Google Maps is always looking North, at least here in the US…
On your most recent video of the orchard, I like the speed you fly at, it allows the viewer to enjoy the scenery… Some vids, especially when shot down low, are like flying in the Attack Formation in “Top Gun: Maverick”. You also yaw (turn right or left) at a nice viewing speed…
I also noticed the duck at 0:23, just to the lower fight of the pond buoy.
At 1:15, you started filming in FPV, it is disorienting, not a good idea, unless you are zooming around like a plane…
At 2:30, you are gutsy to be flying so close to the branches of the trees. Branches with leaves are pretty safe, but get near a branch without leaves and the avoidance system can fail as there is not enough contrast… Just be warned…
What fruit is growing on those trees (at 5:27)?
At 6:28 you lowered the camera (way too fast) you can adjust the speed that the camera rotates, I suggest you make the adjustment…
Did your drone find its way home with your pad being such heavy shade?
By the way, Happy New Year to you and yours…
G’day. Duckling was all sorts of cute. Made for good low pass flying, with high sides to watch out for.
All the vids im doing, is basically me learning. Im not after the cinema stuff just yet lol
Flying between the tree has a danger factor to it, but its good training for me. pretty much the whole time it was about a foot in any direction from branches. but i wont go near to the branches alone now. just the leafy ones. you noticed how slow i was going, that was why. dont want to hurt the lil fella.
Your quite the CSI with tracking. See how you get on with McCozzies video, where ive not given too much away. you know sth hemisphere. you know its close to work, and ive told you where that is. shaddows will be clearly visible. You have a bonus 197 foot high look around the area.
Gimble speed. i will adjust that down a bit as per the video. im pretty smooth, for the most part, but when it comes in for the landing it does slam the gimble which is what you seen happen. I was trying to video the landing, and it spun up right b4 impact. That was the drones doing.
Im curious if you know of a calibration for the landing sensors. my drone hasnt landed within a foot of the take off point, even in full sun. That landing i took over the auto land to get it to the mat. i would have thought that a 100in x 32ic matt with a double H would have given it all it needs for good auto pilot landings.
FPV flying. thats where you wear VR goggles isnt it ? I dont have that. im just flying normal. There is a gap in the middle of the trees and i flew down that as far i could see then stopped and came back
Super sluth cant work out the nuts on the tree ? lol
They are almonds. usually ready around late jan early feb. i have a video on my utube of harvesting i think.
Just as a point of interest, Aussies have a way about them that is kind of cheeky. a bit sarcastic maybe. Please dont take that as any form of disrespect. when i say things like " the super sluth didnt work out what the nuts were" its done with a smile on the face. reason i say this is ive read back through some of your tips and look at how im speaking.
I appreciate all your tips and tricks. Good luck with the McCozzies search hahaha
Im looking forward to redoing this video with the drone. attach a under belly mic, for location sound.
Youtubes archieved alot of my videos from the past. i re uploaded this vid and they put it up as a short. but you will get the idea of whats going on. more clues in the vid as to where we are
Powering up the drone now for gimble slowing. Thanx again for your help
I looked at this vid and seen it was for the mavic. mines the mini 4 pro.
Looked up a vid for the mini 4 pro and followed the steps. ty for that.
See if its a little smoother on the next adventure.
You are correct to a point, FPV is normally done with goggle, but you can set your drone’s camera/gimbal to simulate it. In the CONTROL Menu, you will see that there are two settings for Gimbal Control. In the Follow Mode, the horizon will always stay flat no matter how the drone twists and turns… In the FPV Mode, the Gimbal locks and when the drone tilts to fly left or right, the horizon shifts like it would if you were in an airplane. As indicated at 1:10 in your video of the Orchard.
There is a time and place for this feature, but I do not think it adds to your type of flying now. When you are flying around like Superman, then that is a good feature…
Not to worry about being an Aussie and me, a Yank, taking offense to your chatter as I hope you do not take offense to mine… I am a 30-year US Air Force Veteran and I’ve served in 17-different locations, in 9-different countries, on 6-different continents and if you count the continents, one was not Antarctica… Can you say, “Woomera Prohibited Area” and that is all I’ll say about that…
One of the benefits of being a retired veteran is that I still have access to the Department of Defense Library and one of the sources is access to Pressreader an App that has over 7,500 publications (about 5,000 Magazines and 3,000 Newspapers…) and they have the Pacific edition of the Reader’s Digest and I enjoy reading the stories from Australia and New Zealand because youse guys write like you talk… L o L . . .
Here is the cover of today’s Newspaper, The sports sections is huge and there are no comics… I would not be a fan…
Here’s what on your telly… It looks like you only have about 15 channels… Where I live we have about 65 over the air channels (not saying they are all good…), but I have Gigibit Internet and I use it with my Roku to get thousands of channels and programs off the internet…
While I was typing up this note, the video of the Almond Harvest came in. It looks like you were filming with your smart phone, but what is the item marked with the Red Arrow…
Inquiring Minds Want to Know…
ok alot to cover here.
Thank you for your service. Did you ever fly into Edinburgh airbase, north of Adelaide south Australia?
Thats the reason i cant fly here at home. 22 years ago b4 i started the current job, i spent alot of time with a scanner and a thermos of coffee, sitting right on the road at the end of the runway. Good photo spot.
Occasionally still head over there when the 35’s come in. Used to get alot of Orion action as well as they went off on coastal protection. p3’s are slow but majestic.
To the topic at hand.
The object in the camera view is the camera. well kind of. In the video your watching i was filming on the phone, but had the 4k video camera around my kneck.
Good having the media feed as a resource.
i did a quick video of my settings. def not in fpv mode. was rather dim in my office, so focas is not optimal lol
Well, that was first, I’ve never seen video recorded like this with their drone… Well, done…
After flying like what seemed forever: Los Angeles California to Anchorage, Alaska to Tokyo Japan to Clark Air Base, Philippines and they we landed at RAAF Base Darwin. We then flew to the RAAF Woomera Airfield. So, No, never hit Edinburgh airbase.
When I Fly to video, I always fly in Cine Mode and I have all mus setting for the smoothest and slowest movement so there are no abrupt changes. When I am flying and I am making a change from forward to another movement. I stop, put my thoughts together and then edit out the pauses. Unless there is some apparent issues, I do not even need a transition…
I do not remember, have you joined the MavicPilots? It is a great source of information and inspiration.
Take care!
Are mavics the same as mini 4 pro’s ?
I feel like there would be alot of differences in the control settings.
Im waiting till the silly season is over and i get a windless day to get back to the dam to see if the theory’s are right. im thinking that ill take off from the top and fly it to the bottom. start to record down in the bottom of the spillway, then come up and over to do the reveal. its apparently only 36 meters/118 feet. so that should keep the drone dry and safe. i found out at st kilda that the drone cant track swans. they dont move fast enough so it loses the track.
Darwin airbase is pretty remote. took furniture there from edinburgh airbase as pilots were moving up there. i did a couple years of furniture removals.
Couldnt handle been unemplyed.
i found it strange that they couldnt load it all on a c-130 and take the pilots and there gear all at once. I thought thats what hurc’s were for lol
hopefully your time at woomera was before 63. seen some mushroom clouds just north of there after that if memory serves me right.
I fly cine mode when im doing shots i know im going after, if i remember.
alot of the time i just fly for practice, so its in normal.
i was thinking how do i show my settings, so you know where im at, without having the phone recording the screen. Didnt want to do that as reflections make it hard to see. Using the drone seemed a fun way of doing it. should have run more lights to get the focas. at least thats all i can put it down to.
I was 2 foot off of the trees yesterday and they were in perfect focus. my desk to face is about the same, so should have been able to get it focused.
nearly 00:00 so time to sleep a few hours. talk in the morning. ciao
