Although the Flight Reader installers are signed with a digital certificate, Microsoft Defender often blocks newly released installers from being downloaded on Windows. This issue is commonly encountered when using the Microsoft Edge web browser to download Flight Reader.
Microsoft Defender flags a file as “not commonly downloaded” to help protect users from potentially harmful files. This happens because the file is new, uncommon, or doesn’t have a known reputation with Microsoft Defender’s systems. It doesn’t necessarily mean the file is unsafe—it simply means it hasn’t been downloaded enough times by other people to be recognized as trusted.
Follow these steps to work around this issue:
-
Click the “See more” link in the “isn’t commonly downloaded” notification displayed at the top right of Microsoft Edge.
-
Click “…” to open the menu and select “Keep”.
-
Click “Keep anyway” to confirm you trust the Flight Reader installer download.
Note: All of the Flight Reader installers are signed with the same digital certificate from “Singer’s Creations”. Any file signed with that certificate is safe to download.
