Phantom 4

Ph4 won’t go more than 50 meters or go into sport mode….done all the usual things

Your DJI Phantom 4 drone being restricted to 50 meters is likely due to a software setting like Beginner Mode, an outdated app, or a weak GPS signal. To fix this, update the app, calibrate the drone, log out and back into your DJI account, and check for any user-set altitude and distance limits in the settings.

Tried that….seems that if I don’t do a compass reset everytime I move location…more than 50 kms it won’t go over that distance….is this normal

Never had to do this previously

No, that is not normal, something is preventing it from flying further. I do not have a Phantom so I am just brain-storming possible causes. But on my DJI drones, the two things that can cause this are the Drone is not logged into a valid DJI Account or I have set the Max Height and altitude in the Control Menu to lesser limits… I do this when I am letting my grandkids fly the drones… It prevents them from getting too close to anything that they might harm or damage the drones, (ie: trees, building, people, etc…). Any case, you might not have set these limits, but a you still need to check them to ensure that they did not get re-set during an update…

Your DJI Phantom drone has a built-in distance limitations, configurable in the DJI app (like DJI GO 4) through Altitude & Distance Limits settings, often appearing in Beginner Mode or restricted zones, but you can adjust them (within legal/signal limits) for non-restricted areas, controlling how far away the drone flies before auto-returning or stopping.

Finally, I do not know where you are located but is it possible that based on your location, the drone is restricted by your Geo-fenced location or region?
