Panning blur

I have a DJI Mini 3 Pro and when filming video of posters etc at a range of 2 or 3 meters the text becomes blurry when I am panning but crystal sharp when the drone is stationery. I have tried 2.7k and 4 k at 24fps and 60 fps and no difference. I have the latest firmware updates as well. It is on auto focus and i have tried half pressing the photo button to get it into focus and it does but as soon as panning commences the text becomes a little blurry. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am a newbie.

You do realize that as you pan, the distance (focal length) from the drone to posters is constantly changing.

The DJI Mini 3 and Mini 3 Pro utilize contrast-detection autofocus, which relies on the imaging sensor to detect focus differences and analyze contrast to sharpen images. The Pro version boasts a more robust, active, and automated focusing system, both models primarily depend on this, with options for manual adjustment or locking to infinity to prevent focus hunting.

I think you are just too close (2-3 meters or 6-9 feet) to the posters and as the drone pans from one side to the other of the poster, the contrast is not great enough to allow the camera to keep up with the panning…

If this is true, pan slower and speed up the video play back… Or back up, shoot from further away and use zoom…

Have you tried shooting a Panorama (that is a series of photos stitched together), then with editing, you can create movement in the photo… Here is a video I created to demonstrate that…

You can see what I mean in this short video I shot with the drone with everything on auto here is the link on youtube. https://youtu.be/3LQNVIJ5EcE

First off, you need to fly in CINE mode and crank all the settings lower… Also, I noticed your camera “hunting” meaning it is jittereing a bit as it tries to focus on what is in the center of the frame but you are turning the drone (panning…) and it does not have a chance to get anything into focus…

I lowered the Yaw setting in CINE Mode so that the drones takes a full minute to rotate 360°. Also your Gimbal Pitch Speed is set too high ( that means it moves too fast up and down) when it is set too high, again the camera cannot focus on what it in the center frame… I set mine in the 20 to 30 range… towards 20 for up close photos and towards 30 for distance shots… Try 25…

Finally, you need to set the Pitch Speed so the gimbal slows to a stop not as yours does, it seems to stop immediately, try setting it in the 7 to 10 range…

Just curious, are you in the UK? The neighborhood looks so English… I am in Virginia, USA…

Here is an old video that specifically addresses what I am saying…

Thank you for your kind reply and YES I am in the UK:) …for my sins with this Goverment.

I will try your settings and let you know how I get on but I did get much better results when I switched to pro mode at 4k and 60fps and white balance etc all on auto. But again I didnt touch shutter speeds…perhaps it changed itself as I was filming? Much better results for sure though…and by the way most of the footage was at close range, 3 meters at most slowly panning around the garden.

60 fps will stop most action, but I think you are still flying tto fast to et cinematic video…
