NOOB Here - Disconnected Error

I’ll try to truncate as much as I can - long story…

I have a P4 standard that has been sitting a while. I want to start using it again. I was using a Asus Nexus 7 with GO4 V 4.3.37 and it always worked fine. The Tablet is OLD and Batt is weak - run it’s race! So I bought a cheap WalMart ONN 11 PRO. It’s actually very nice, feature rich, 64 BIT V13 Android OS. Can’t beat the price.

I loaded GO4 onto it, the latest version. It WILL NOT connect to the craft! I’ve read a bunch of very good posts here and trid MANY cables. It just says ‘Disconnected’ and I can’t get it to work.

If I use the old Nexus 7 and older version of GO4 it works fine - just like it used to.

What could be the problem? Is it the ONN Tablet? I’ve made some tweaks I saw on YT and even installed the SW with a APK installer vs just ‘loading’ it.

Also, I’ve read about some newer Federal reg that will force me to use an add-on device to be ‘compliant’ with something. Will loading new SW brick the craft till I get this little black box thing?

I’ve even DL’s some older versions of GO4 (4.3.54, 4.3.25, 4.3.37) none of them let it connect. I don’t trust the Batt on the Nexus or I’d just return the ONN Pro to WalMart.

Can you help here?
Thanks
M

For clarification, it sounds like the issue is that the tablet is unable to connect to the remote controller. It’s not possible to connect the tablet directly to the drone.

How is the tablet connected to the remote controller?

Thanks so much for the quick reply.
The tablet is in the clamp on top of the Radio and connected with a USB C cable. The nexus used USB Micro. I know this is not just a charging cable and has Data capabilities.

Yes, that is important.

When you connect the tablet to a computer with that same USB-C cable, are you able to view and navigate the file system?

Thanks again for sticking with me.
If you are asking if I can use the laptop to view files on the Tablet once it is connected via USB-C cable- like it was an external drive, No I cannot. And I am surprised at that. The laptop makes the ding sound that is always makes if you connect anything via USB. But it is not showing up in explorer. I tried a different cable too.
Strange…

I can now- ‘Use USB for’ was set to MIDI. I changed it to file transfer and it now shows as a ‘Portable device’ in explorer. The only files I can see are on the Micro SD card though. That might be a setting? I cannot see the internal storage of the Tablet - yet…
I did make some setting changes based on so searching I did. It might need some tweaking.

All of a sudden - I’m connected! It must have been the MIDI vs File Transfer Setting. I read somewhere that it should be set to MIDI if you were having connection issues - guess not…
I’m going to test it with some gentle, low flying and I’ll report back
Thanks for the help.
Fingers crossed!
