I tried to open Flight Reader last night and McAfee won’t allow it to open and puts it in quarantine. I can restore if from quarantine but if I try to open the program it happens again. I’ve searched here and through McAfee with no success on how to resolve this. Last time I used the program (09/20/25) I didn’t have any problems. I don’t remember if I have the latest update, but I’m pretty sure I did an update in August. Has anyone had this issue or have suggestions for fix the problem?
McAfee provides instructions for excluding files from scanning here:
https://www.mcafee.com/support/s/article/000001661?language=en_US
If that doesn’t resolve the issue, try reaching out to McAfee Support. They can provide further guidance on properly configuring their application to avoid false positives.
Thanks. I’ve tried that and the problem file (flightreader.dll) doesn’t show up in the files I can add to the exclusion list. I already have a couple Flight Reader files on the exclusion list (a .json and .xml). I’ll see what McAfee says.
Disregard. I just got my McAfee to add the file.
