My drone has been in the hangar because it’s too hot for drone or pilot (105+) for the past several months. Took it out of hangar, charged all the batteries and controller, updated software and went for shakedown flight. Altitude was set at 150ft distance at 3000 feet. Drone took off just fine and went about 150 feet and then reported it had reached max flight distance. What might have caused that?
Are you logged into your DJI Fly app? After a period of no use the app will sign you out and you must sign in again to fly more than 150 away.
Yes if you’re certain the leash settings aren’t limiting, and that the drone is bound to your DJI account and you are signed in, also make sure you’re in GPS mode with plenty of satellites. If you’re in Opti mode it can limit your range and altitude.
If your flight area is somewhere you don’t have internet, sign into your DJI account before you leave your house or wherever you have a connection, and don’t sign out before flying.
I decided to go back to square one. Charged all batteries overnight, reloaded drone and controller software updates. Double checked DJI account hooked up, reset flight parameters, said a short prayer and voila! Drone works as it is supposed to. In my eagerness earlier, I may have over looked something. Thanks for your input.
When the simple “turn it off/unplug it->turn it back on” solution doesn’t work, a more thorough troubleshooting and error-trapping workflow is needed. Good job sorting it out, and happy to hear you’re airborne w/o a leash again! ![]()
