Mavic Mini Fly away

Low wind and didn’t fly it very high, looked light enough battery left as well. Drone started flying away and I got a high wind warning so I accepted for it to return to home but then the controller disconnected and I lost it. I went to the last recorded location and it wasn’t there - how is this location worked out? Will it not be accurate if the controller lost connection?

Any help would be really appreciated, disappointed as this was my second flight with the drone (I have flown a lot with other DJI drones before) and waited for a day with low wind as I was thinking about how light this thing was. Felt like a software issue.

Hi,

Your MM drifted on the wind heading 077 until autolanding.
Hard to tell where it has landed, my guess is the orange marker.

Hope you had your phone # on the MM or contact data on the SD card.

Fly against wind in CineSmooth does not work, best is to go into SPORT, lower height if possible and full pitch forward heading to HP.

Your RTH height was set to 500 meter, not a good idea really.

In RTH mode your MM drifted away from home, see chart.

cheers
JJB

Looks like another Mini wind and propulsion issue to me. Winds at ~200ft are stronger and in this instance blowing away from you. It would have never made RTH nor in Sport IMO.

Indeed mayby mayby another MM with a propulsion error, but this MM did pitch down to good down values as other MM with errors only pitch down to 5 8 degrees down and mostly loosing height.

So i think this is a ‘good’ function MM, only 1.5 - 2 m/s backdrift in CineSmooth so guess in Sport mode and flying lower it would have made it.

But always in this kind of circumstances ; just try this and see if it does the trick. Not shooting is always a miss.

JJB, In a situation like this, if the drone is in RTH mode, can the pilot add FORWARD speed by pushing the stick “forward”?
Can the pilot change altitude during RTH?
Will any of these actions CANCEL the RTH mode and put the drone back in the pilot’s manual control?

Alan

Alan,

During RTH drone will fly direct line toward home. You can add forward / aft stick to increase / decrease speed…you can increase or decrease height, you can even yaw left / right to make a full 360 turn.
But craft will fly on this direct line.

cheers
JJB
