Mavic Air - major video lag with iPhone 8

Hi guys, I’ve recently purchased a Mavic Air and took it out for it’s first flight the other day to find that it had a major lag on the video feed. I’ve taken it on numerous flights since and it has the same problem. Range isn’t the issue as when I fly it at 20ft above me the lag is the same.

I’m using an iPhone 8 and all of the firmware is up to date on the drone / app, does anyone have any ideas why this would be happening?

Here are some troubleshooting steps to try to figure out what is reducing your range:

  • Enable airplane mode on your mobile device
  • Make sure you don’t have any other Wi-Fi/cellular devices near the remote controller
  • Make sure the remote controller antennas are positioned like this
  • Make sure there are no obstacles between the Mavic Air and remote controller
  • Try flying in a location where you know there are no other nearby Wi-Fi signals (e.g. don’t fly in a house neighborhood)
