HOW TO: Registering your drone with the FAA

Before flying in the US, you must register with the FAA here and mark your drones with your FAA number like this.

If only flying as a hobbyist, you should register under the Exception for Recreational Flyers and mark all of your drones with the same FAA number. If you’re also going to be flying commercially, then register each drone separately under Part 107. More details about Section 336 and Part 107 can be found on the FAA’s website here.

If you need labels, I sell these small FAA registration labels that are small enough to be attached inside of the battery compartment.

Note: The registration rule was reinstated in December 2017 and is required by H.R.2810, Section 1092 (d).
