Galaxy Tab A7 LITE and dji Fly

Hi. New to the forum, new to drones and need some help.

I just bought a Mini 2 SE and discovered my phone is not compatible with the Fly app. I see that the Galaxy Tab A7 LITE works but I was wondering if the wifi only version works or do I need the version with wifi and cellular capability?

Thanks.

What happened when you installed DJI Fly?

You only need cellular capability if you plan to use features that require an Internet connection while flying. For example, you might need to log into your DJI account in the DJI Fly app if you’ve been logged out. That said, an Internet connection is not required to fly a DJI drone.

Most modern smartphones can create a hotspot, allowing other devices to connect to the Internet. If your phone supports this feature, you can use it whenever you need an Internet connection.

I just got “Download failed” messages. Samsung A50. It’s not on the dji approved list but it sounds like there are a lot of devices that work that aren’t listed.

So, essentially, the device (phone or tablet) is primarily just a display? The actual “connection” to the drone is through the controller?

DJI only tests with a small subset of the many mobile devices available. However, many devices not on their list still work. You can find some of the commonly used devices here.

That’s correct. The drone is operated using the remote controller, which handles all communication by sending and receiving data to and from the drone.

Thanks. I appreciate the clarification.
