I need your help with this error code. I have even replaced the downward sensor and I’m still getting this error.
When I try to do the calibration in the Assistant 2 software, the front sensors calibrate OK, but then when I try the downward sensors, those corner square mark don’t show up and I’m getting black images from both sensors. Though the checkmarks are green.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Mini 3 Pro error code 1A020040 indicates a Downward Vision Sensor Error, often fixed by recalibrating sensors in the DJI Fly app (Safety > Sensors > Calibrate), updating firmware via DJI Assistant 2, checking for physical debris/moisture, or contacting DJI Support if persistent, as it can signal software glitch or hardware damage. Start with simple resets and app calibration before assuming hardware failure.
I do not know if you tried all of this first…

But that is all I’ve got, but luckily you can probably get support from DJI Support on line now…
I haven’t tried in app calibration yet, I wasn’t aware of that, new to drones. Updated(refreshed) the firmware in Assistant, but calibration get’s stuck at downward calibration (no image from the sensors and no calibration marks show up). I’m on my own, no warranty, picked up the drone broken. I will let you know how it goes. Thank you very much

After I have done the IMU calibration, I have got another error code: 16200202 and the previous is still there, 1A020040. It would let me to use it now, not like before. I haven’t tried it, since I don’t have the top and bottom covers installed.

I’m not sure how this all plays out… It might all be connected or completely separate issues… But here goes…
DJI Error Code 16200202 indicates a vision system or obstacle avoidance sensor malfunction. This is more often than not, appearing in poor lighting, fog, or after sensor changes (this miht be where it is all associated…), therefore preventing takeoff.
To fix it, first, power cycle the drone and controller, clean the sensors (forward, downward), then perform an auto-calibration in the DJI Fly app;
if it fails, use DJI Assistant 2 to manually calibrate the sensors, update firmware, check for driver issues on your PC, and if problems persist, contact DJI support.
Again, this is just advice, but as I mentioned previously, you’re drone is not going to be turned into a stone by the recent law changes with drones and the FCC… So, if you cannot fix it, the DJI facilities and various third party repair centers should be coming operational soon, now that the approved drones are no longer “illegal aliens”… L o L . . .
I have tried with the original down sensor and with the replacement one, same error. Flex cable is new, came with the front sensor, which had a cracked glass(that is the reason for replacement). Assistant is not able to calibrate the down sensor, it stops when it should come up the calibration corners(no images show up from the down sensors). Front sensor calibration worked well before the down sensor. Refreshed the firmware two times already. I could try to put back the original sensors, and try that way. Can I just replace that one sensor that has the cracked glass, or they are vin locked? Thank you for trying to help, it is much appreciated. I’m handy with electronic repairs, that is not scaring me. I have broke off the leg LED connector(which is very tiny) and I have cut and soldered in another pigtail from another leg. I have also replaced the gimbal wire harness, which brought back the camera functionality. That wire could be causing sensor issues?

I can probably only suggest things you have already performed, I am sorry, it is well beyond me. I hope some of the members who have performed similar work might offer a solution. Good Luck!

I have decided to try out the original front sensor with the broken glass, and it cleared the error, did not even have to do a calibration. I have just removed the broken glass. I’m not sure if it was a bad 7 in 1 flex cable issue(the replacement sensor came with it), or the new sensor was bad. Any of you know, if these sensors are vin locked to the motherboard?
Now the drone has no errors and it flights as it should.
Why it had a downward sensor error, and replacing the front one fixed it?
It looks like none of the replacement sensors fixed anything, I had to install the original ones.

Sometimes you have to go “old-school” and just smack it up side of the head…
In 1967, I had an old Buick and the radio only worked when you smack the dash with your fist… When I was younger, we had an old B&W TV that sometimes needed a smack on it’s side to work… Might have been a loose tube…
I am glad you got it working… I still have a gimbal the jitters when I shoot a Globe (the 360° Photosphere…)
https://forum.phantomhelp.com/t/my-mini-2-gimbal-has-the-jitters-it-hesitates-or-oscillates-at-times/10674
But as long as it works, I’m leaving it alone… It does not affect any photos or video and I only notice it when I am looking as the video feed as the drone moves left or right…
