My dji mini 3 pro is connected to the previous owner’s email, and I’m unable to make any changes. As a last resort, I’m considering replacing the component where this information is stored. Is it possible to fix the problem this way?
No you cannot. The drone may fly fine now, but some updates require you to re-login and if that happens, you cannot log in and the drone will become but a child’s toy with extremely restricted range and altitude…
If the previous owners whole email is visible, send him/her and email and ask for the password, most times the email address is partly blocked with “****” and then you are out of luck…
I would return it, did you get it from a second hand store or pawn shop. If you did, you can return it based on the fact that the previous owner has not relinquished ownership since it is still registered in their name or it is stolen property…
Hi,
I bought it used on Craigslist in Vancouver and rn I am in Germany. I have nothing except a PayPal transaction. Does anyone have an y ideas what tot do now?
Already did that. Turns out that guy bought it from someonelse as well. I am very sure that I am not going to solve this problem by unbinding through the original owner.
**DJI will not help you unless you can prove equitably that you came by this drone honestly. DJI claims that this is to protect the owners from theft as the drone is of little use without the original owner’s log in credentials… **
Buying the drone off of Creiglist is perhaps the most nefarious way to get a drone, especially since the previous owner also was not even the original owner and since he also could not fly it, he sold it. If you had bought it from a reseller (like a pawn shop…), that requires proof of identification and just not a parking lot swap; this has worked in the past by providing that written sale’s proof.
You can try, but I would also recommend you try check to see if your drone was reported stolen through various web sites… This is one…
**Now, to go a bit off subject, I was on eBay a couple of years ago and there was a drone for sale that a hiker had found and was putting it up for sale… The seller even listed the serial number and I contacted DJI and asked them to contact the original owner with the news that it had been found, they did… **
I would also try this, with all your paperwork from the sale of the drone, including the proof of payment, you might contact DJI and ask them to contact the original owner and verify that it was sold and not stolen and ask them to release the binding if it is not stolen…
