De-Googled Phone - APK for DGF or Litchi? P3A - New to Me

Hi all! First time DJI owner here, and I’m loving the fact this thing is a lil bit retro.

That said, here are my first day problems:

(1) I don’t know what version of firmware the controller, drone or battery are at (2017 is when DJI stopped updating the firmware - should I leave it where it might be?)

(2) I don’t know which APK of which version of DJI’s Android software (DJI Go Fly?) - that would support this drone at the last version know to support it. I can practically load any version of android I need to on my phone, no problem, as it’s rooted and unlocked, but I still can’t figure out which version of the APK to use. And no, I won’t consider apple, sorry.

(3) If the DJI app can be loaded, and the drone and controller connected, again - would I need to update any firmware, or somehow perform another step to receive the new geo-fencing restriction removals? That would be cool.

If I have to go to Litchi, I think I’m in a similar conundrum as I’m going to have to find the APK for Litchi and get it on this android phone of mine.

Otherwise - what is cool - is that the drone flys line of sight without anything connected aside from the controller, no phone paired yet and she flys!

Be nice - first poster, first drone.

Thanks!

Here is the link to all of the DJI Support for your Phantom 3 Advanced… This link contains links to the Apps, the Manuals and the Release Notes and More…

Since you wrote that it is new to you and if it does have Litchi, that might just be account only accessible to the original owner…

Other than that, I am out of my depth…

Good Luck!

I prefer running the latest firmware, but if everything is working well for you and you don’t need the newest features or fixes, there’s no harm in sticking with your current setup.

Updating the firmware on Phantom 3 models can be quite a hassle compared to the streamlined process for newer drones released in recent years, which is another good reason to leave things as they are. If you decide to update it, you can find some useful guides here.

The most recent version of DJI GO is compatible with your drone. That download is available in the DJI Downloads.

We’re discussing that over in this thread. I haven’t seen any mention of that change being made in DJI GO, but it seems like it should be possible if it only requires a FlySafe database update. If an update is available, you’ll be prompted to download it in DJI GO.
