Wonder if I can still fly with this crsck. Just saw it the night before going out. Never crashed it and its never been dropped that I know of. Flown about 15 times in 10 months I´ve had it.
It looks like a stress crack to me, I cannot explain it, except to guess it was a bad production run… Is the drone still under warranty? I would contact the factory (I recognize the color – probably DJI). You wrote you’ve had it for 10-months, did you buy it new? Many drones have a one-year warranty so time is getting short for a warranty claim.
Check this out.
No accidents in flight, no dropping on ground. DJI won´’ fix it under guarantee. They say since it was in my possession when damage occurred so they can´t determine the cause. What kind of guarantee is that?
I am not sure what is going on… How old is the drone? Is there a valid Care Refresh policy in effect? Is it over 1-year old?
I would do these three things to complain… I imagine you have done at least one… I would call the 800 number and tell them exactly what happened. I would write the DJI Support web site and tell them exactly what happened. And I would log onto DJI Forum https://forum.dji.com/ and tell them exactly what happened.
I am guessing that your drone is over a year old. You said that you have flown it 15 times in the 10 months that you’ve had it. Did you buy it used?
Finally, if you are in the US, then you realize that the Chinese embargo has really made the supply of DJI replacement parts hard to come by… I sent my drone into DJI in June for some work on its Gimbal and DJI had to return it without a repair since they could not get the parts…
Good Luck!
Did you send it to DJI in the United States or China? I’d think China has the parts. I know that I bought a Mini 4 and later a Mini 5 from overseas and on both DJI came back with the message not qualified for insurance, that sucks.
I am in the US and I sent to the DJI facility in Kentucky. They held it for two months and were unable to acquire the parts and sent it back un-repaired (no charge even for postage…).
I know there are repair facilities in Canada and Mexico, but DJI drones are certified in specific regional areas… The firmware installed in the drones may have differences based on those regions and their policy was not to repair drones across borders
I wish they would get all that crap settled. So we’d have repair facilities in the United States. All this is just unfair to Americans who enjoy the hobby of flying drones. Just shameful.
I have read mixed messages both ways, you can buy a brand new (all ready FCC Certified drone) in the US, but I have read that the communication equipment and cameras are still on the “naughty” list and since brand new drones have cameras and communication gear on them and DJI is just one of the companies on the “naughty” list that we do not know when or even if the restriction on DJI be will be lifted and whether DJI will be a commercial business again in the US…
What I am really curious about is what about all the folks who have bought brand new DJI drones and they are defective and need to be repaired/replaced under warranty and what about all the drones that never got to fly a second time due to "pilot error…) ![]()
One more reason I think its all BS and the American consumer is getting screwed. Think of the farmers and the rest who use dJi for commercial usage.
I have seen DJI Drones for sale on Amazon with the seller offering “Asurion” for either a 2 or 3 years period… What I do not know is how they would handle a damaged drone that cannot be repaired because the parts are not available… I think they will replace the item if available or if no replacement is available, they will refund a rebated purchase price…
