This is on me and I am trying to rectify the situation best. I bought a mini 4 pro combo from an amazon auction warehouse, I spoke with DJI about getting care refresh on the drone and was able to do so with my info, after enjoying the drone for some time I decided to upgrade and sell my current drone, I sold it and about a month later the buyer said that the drone was bound to another account. I have been frantically trying to figure out what to do. I have the receipt from the 3rd party Amazon auction place and DJI is not helping. Am I screwed?
I’d be interested to know the outcome on this if you don’t mind.
DJI has very specific rules about issuing a Care Refresh Policy after the Drone has been activated… Typically, in the US, when you buy a “new” DJI Drone, when you activate it and bind it to your accouot, you are asked if yu want to buy the policy, if you decline, you have about 4-hours to change your mind, but yu might have to submit a video of the drone to prove you have not already smashed it…
Due to supply problem, DJI stopped offering the policy in early July. You do not say where in the world “Waldo” is so all of this might for naught as DJI’s rules vary by country…
Now, When did you buy this Drone and was it New or Used?
All DJI Drone MUST be bound to an account or they will be severely limited in range and altitude… Did you bind your drone to your account?
Then you said you spoke to DJI and they agreed to issue you a care refresh policy based on your info… Was this all over the phone and how much later did you get the policy after you bought the drone?
What I am thinking is that you bought a USED drone that was already bound to another account. That is like buying a used car and the seller never turns over the title or registration…
Earlier in the year, DJI was willing to help second hand buyers to “re-bind” the drone if they could provide proof that the drone was acquired legitimately. But then there was a surge of fake proofs of resale and DJI decided not to be a party to the illicit transfer of ill-gotten drones.
Once you answer many of the above questions, some of the members might be able to help. Otherwise, you will probably have to buy back your drone…
